Carey Griffiths has an extensive history in transport safety, and has previously presented at this conference in the UK in 2008 and 2014. Carey comes from an almost 30 year career in Police, where he was promoted to the role of National Manager: Road Policing and also completed the Monash University Accident Research Centre Road Safety Executive Leadership Programme. After his retirement from Police in 2015, he worked as a Regional Manager for the New Zealand Transport Agency before going to work for the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) as the Senior Injury Prevention Programme Manager for Motorcycles. There he developed, in partnership with the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council (MSAC), the joint ACC/MSAC Motorcycle Safety Strategy. Carey has a particular interest in motorcycle safety and road safety generally, and is the National President of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM New Zealand).
